Every time a search engine finds your website next to your competitors, it tells them that your company is in a related niche. The new key to off-page SEO? You need to create content that other people find valuable and want to share with their visitors. Don’t try and stuff keywords where they don’t belong. Yes, still focus on keywords, but your north star for everything you write should be the user. Engagement with a website began to emerge as a ranking factor with the release of the Panda update by Google on February 23, 2011

What search engines cannot see

On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing individual web pages in order to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic in search engines. On-page refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized, as opposed to off-page SEO which refers to links and other external signals. While many old-school SEOs believe that link building techniques are now largely ineffective (or at least less effective than they once were), links are still critical to getting high rankings. Optimizing for local SEO means more than just making sure your location is clear. You can also use it to show opening hours, reviews and phone numbers (which smartphone users can click to instantly call). A lot of people think of link reclamation as just 301’ing pages they have moved that still have a lot of great backlinks.

Spread the love

A key lesson to apply to pretty much every aspect of SEO, is not to get carried away when you find ideas that work. For example, just because quality is key, that doesn’t mean that you need to disavow every low quality link and only ever build links from the top sites. Make sure at least one image file name includes your target keyword and that your target keyword is part of your image Alt Text. Content quality, content amount, and website information are all factors in your Page Quality Rating. Especially for local or small businesses, determining your niche is very important. When you know your niche, you can emphasize what makes your products or brand unique, therefore improving your odds to rank well for them.

Generate site maps

Back in 2011, you could use blog commenting to get 200 backlinks and quickly skyrocket your rankings on search engines. But, in today’s algorithm for search engines, the focus is on quality over quantity. The best way to get backlinks from other blogs and from social media sites is to write posts that are engaging and worth sharing. Backlinks are links from outside domains that point to pages on your domain; essentially linking back from their domain to yours. We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "So if a consumer hears a message somewhere and then decides to search on Bing to get more information, many times the advertiser isn’t present, and that consumer ends up taking a different path than what the advertiser would have desired."

Sprinkle LSI keywords liberally

SEO offers incredible opportunity and access (it's an inherently free marketing channel) to inbound traffic, but it can be hard to know where to start and what advice to follow. The correct order of keywords will generally rank better as compared to the same keyword phrase in a different order. Progressive SEO means technical, analytical and traditional marketing all rolled into one. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is another important strategy that helps grow your website traffic. The number of backlinks you have on your website plays a crucial role when it comes to ranking your blog on Google.
