In the early days of SEO, you could get a site to rank fairly easily by buying a bunch of low-quality backlinks, keyword stuffing (including the same keyword on a page a bunch of times), or by buying a domain address (website name) that exactly matched the keyword you wanted to rank for. There’s no getting around it. Keyword research is a vitally important aspect of your search engine optimization campaign. The focus on the right audience and the right content brings an understanding of the content that they’re more likely to consume. The search engines may not apply the entirety of a domain’s trust and link juice weight to subdomains. This is largely due to the fact that a subdomain could be under the control of a different party, and therefore in the search engine’s eyes it needs to be separately evaluated.

Use Optimized Robots.txt

Beware, excessive linking, either internal or external can lead to the exact opposite results. Make sure that every link serves its own purpose in your content. Make sure that you label all of your images with descriptive alt attributes. It appears that when attempting to improve search engine ranking for a web-site, a position in the top six of the search engine results page has never been more important. Even web pages that currently have a top search engine ranking cannot afford to be complacent. Many marketers will have seen a technical SEO checklist in their time. Any time a site migration is approaching or a technical audit is scheduled, a checklist tends to appear.

Search Engine Marketing is hyped

Paid links are links garnered in exchange for payment. They can come from a network of link buyers and sellers, and a network usually consists of a group of low-quality sites that collectively link to a specific website in an effort to increase it’s authority in SERPs. Other times, there may be a reciprocal linking program, where a group of websites link to one another. SEO is the process that brings traffic to a website, but if you can’t convert that traffic into a sale, email subscriber, etc., there is no point in having it in the first place. Today, the secret to SEO is no secret at all. It's common sense. Brands that rank high on search engines have great content, address their target audience's search intent, and take the time to optimize their sites from a technology standpoint. Give the search engines some time to do their thing (a couple days, or even weeks) and then keep checking your rank to see what happened and track your progress.

Do Visitor Metrics Play a Role in Search Engine Rankings?

Link Exchange is another good way for building links. However, you need to be careful with this one. I am not asking to go around ‘asking people for links’. Just move subtly with it. Make sure at least one image file name includes your target keyword and that your target keyword is part of your image Alt Text. Although SEO marketing tactics take a long time to show impact and ranking against high-power competitors isn’t an easy task, SEO should be a critical part of any small business’ long-term growth marketing plan. According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant : "To optimize your keyword research for local SEO, brainstorm keywords or phrases with a geo-modifier that customers might use when searching for a business like yours."

Headings and SEO

Links aren’t just for navigation; they are also a tool for guiding potential customers through the marketing funnel. Create and submit sitemaps for each country in Google Webmaster Tools. This is only necessary if you’re using subdirectories for each of your locale sites, but it is very important that Google indexes and understands all the pages on your site. The best way to do this is to submit a sitemap for each country or region you are targeting. Google offers another tool called Google Website Optimizer that allows you to run experiments to find what on-page changes will produce the best conversion rates with visitors. Don’t overstuff your page with keywords and phrases, while shoe-horning in as many variations as possible. Instead write something a reader can genuinely engage with and enjoy or learn from.
